Are there rehearsals?
No. Rehearsals are not conducted for any commencement activities.
Where do I purchase my cap and gown and invitations?
The ASU Bookstore is recognized as the official supplier of academic apparel and invitations.
Is there a dress code?
You must wear the appropriate cap and gown. Though there is no dress code, it is suggested that women wear skirts or dresses and men wear collared shirts and nice pants. Students tend to dress nicely.
Which side do I wear my tassel on?
Undergraduates wear the tassel on the front right side of the cap. Graduates wear it on the front left side.
Do I need tickets for the ceremony?
No tickets are needed and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open 90 minutes before each ceremony.
Where is the ceremony?
All ceremonies are held in the Stephens Arena in the Junell Center.
Which ceremony am I in?
You march in the ceremony for your major. View list of graduate majors by ceremony. View list of undergraduate majors by ceremony.
Where do I park?
Parking is available in A/B/C lots on both sides of Varsity Lane on the west side of the Junell Center. Guests may also be able to find parking in the Foster Field lot on the east side of Jackson Street. Handicapped-accessible parking spaces are available to the east and west of the Junell Center.
What do I wear to recognize honors?
Undergraduate students who graduate with academic distinction (cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude) will have their cords placed on by a representative on stage. Medallions will be given to Alpha Chi Honor Society members in the Auxiliary Court prior to each ceremony. Phi Kappa Phi members may wear the medallions that were received at the Phi Kappa Phi induction ceremony. If you did not attend the Phi Kappa Phi induction ceremony, please contact Dr. Karl Havlak (Karl.Havlak@angelo.edu) to arrange to receive your medallion and other Phi Kappa Phi items.
When will I receive my diploma?
Diplomas are mailed approximately six to eight weeks after commencement.
How much do replacement diplomas cost?
Replacement diplomas currently cost $25 each.
What if my name or address has changed since submitting my graduation application?
Please contact your college (College of Arts and Humanities 325-942-2162, College of Business 325-942-2337, College of Education 325-942-2212, Archer College of Health and Human Services 325-942-2630, College of Graduate Studies 325-942-2169 and College of Science and Engineering 325-942-2470.) Contact the Registrar’s Office at 325-942-2043 to make changes as well.
Where do I store personal belongings during Commencement?
Please do not bring extra belongings. There is no storage available during the ceremony.
How do I order photos of the ceremony?
A photo of each student will be taken on stage by Charles Beasley Photography. Students will be mailed information about pictures and ordering 10–14 days after graduation. To contact Charles Beasley, call 325-949-3310.
Is my name listed in the Commencement program?
Students who have invoked the Privacy Act will not be listed in the program or have their names released to local media.
What if my guests or I need disability seating/assistance?
There are seating areas for persons with disabilities around the railing on the upper level of the Stephens Arena. Ushers will be on hand to help anyone needing assistance. A sign-language interpreter will be present during the ceremonies. Handicapped-accessible parking is available on both sides of the Junell Center.
