ASU Caregiver Research Institute: “Strategies for Preventing Hospitalizations in At-Risk Populations”

This one-day symposium will provide professional nurses with updated information on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of bacterial pneumonia, urinary tract infections, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

This program includes evidence-based pharmacological management of preventable illnesses. Mobility/functionality and their relationships to the prevention of common illnesses will be discussed. Challenges in communication between healthcare providers and caregivers will be explored. This educational activity is designed to enhance the professional nurse’s awareness of the care needs of the older adult and the relationship of preventable illnesses, chronic disease, and hospital readmissions.
