Art: E. James Holland Symposium Student Contest Exhibition

All the entries will be on public display March 4-8 in the Art Gallery in Room 193 of the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building, 2602 Dena Drive.
An awards ceremony honoring the winners and all student participants will be held Thursday, March 7, from 4-5 p.m. in the Art Gallery. Both the exhibition and awards ceremony are open free to the public.
Stephen Salas, an Angelo State University mass media major, won the top prize in the contest this year. He won first place and a $250 prize for “Hair – A Silent Music Short.”
Second place awards went to graphic design majors Nicole Clemens and Sean Halstead. Clemens was awarded $125 for her entry, a digital print titled “Wanted,” and Halstead received $125 for his digital print titled “The Dollar Bill.”
Graphic design major Savannah Logsdon, received honorable mention for her illustration and original musical score titled “Mike the Mime.”
Judges for this year’s contest were Department of Visual and Performing Arts faculty members Ben Sum, Dr. Martha Saywell and Dr. Bill Doll.
