Pearl of the Concho Writing Project: Teachers Writing Camp

Monday, July 15, 2013 12 - 6:15 a.m.
Repeats M-F (to July 18, 2013)

The Pearl of the Concho Writing Project Teachers Writing Camp offers professional development for the K-12 community of teachers interested in expanding their understanding of the teaching of writing.

The Pearl of the Concho Writing Project believes that socially responsible approaches to teaching writing support the education and success of San Angelo’s culturally and linguistically diverse student population.

The Teachers Writing Camp, a “mini” version of previous Invitational Summer Institute, provides a dynamic environment for a diverse group of educators to examine their roles as writers, teachers and leaders. The theory and practice of teaching writing are examined through lesson planning, reading, and discussion of current research, as well as writing and responding in peer groups. Successful completion of the TWC will provide opportunities for ongoing collaboration and a variety of leadership roles.

Who Should Apply?

The TWC is designed for K-12 educators who have experience with teaching writing and a desire to learn more.

Applications should indicate an interest in becoming a part of a professional community of practitioners. All grade levels and disciplines are invited to apply.

Notifications of acceptance will be made by May 6, 2013. Upon completion of the TWC, participants receive a $500 stipend paid by the National Writing Project.
