Art Exhibit: Stephen Daly drawings and sculpture exhibit
This exhibit is in conjunction with the Salmon Sculpture Symposium. Daly will give a lecture on Oct. 19 at the Old Chicken Farm Art Center.
Stephen Daly retired from teaching sculpture at the University of Texas at Austin and is now chair of the Texas Sculpture Group. Daly was born on the East Coast and raised on the West Coast. His first creative impulses were in music, with transition to visual art occurring half way through high school. He made his first serious efforts as a sculptor as a student in the early 1960s, at San Jose State University in Northern California, working primarily in cast bronze and aluminum. As his training continued at Cranbrook Academy of Art, his technical and aesthetic growth as a sculptor accelerated, as ideas were challenged and refined. Daly’s first teaching job was at the University of Minnesota.
