ASU Concert Chorale Concert

7:30pm CDT April 1

Cactus Hotel

The Angelo State University Chorale will present an evening of stunning opera choruses. The talented singers will perform popular selections from the operatic repertoire of the 18th through 20th centuries.

Also programmed are highlights from the epic musical, Les Miserables, and a short opera buffa entitled The Grasshopper.  Accompanying the choir are the Permian Basin String Quartet and members of the San Angelo Symphony.

Favorites from the world of opera include the rousing “March of the Toreadors” from Bizet’s Carmen and the hauntingly beautiful “Song to the Moon” from Dvorak’s Rusalka.  Faculty soprano Janeene Williams will join the chorus for the lyrical “Voyager’s Chorus” from Mozart’s Idomeneo.  ASU alumna Patti Wetzel will perform the coloratura aria, “Una voce poco fa,” from The Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini.  Dr. Scott Raines, resident baritone, will perform “Bring Him Home” from Les Mis and the opening solo from Aaron Copland’s square dance, “Stomp Your Foot.”

The concert is open free to the public.

Please join the ASU Choir at the elegant and historic Cactus Hotel for a memorable evening of exquisite vocal music.
