UCPC: #ClubCafeKickOff 2014 featuring Comedian Deon Cole

Club Café launches the fall semester’s entertainment with stand-up comedian and actor Deon Cole at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. Doors open at 7 p.m.

A native of Chicago, Cole has been featured on “John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show,” “Laffapalooza,” “Mash Ups” and his own “1/2 Hour Special,” all on Comedy Central. He also has been a finalist in NBC’s “Stand-Up for Diversity Showcase” and won BET’s Robin Harris Award for most original comic. In 2009, he made a stand-up appearance on “The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien” and was hired as a staff writer, making weekly appearance as a commentator/performer and touring with O’Brien on the “Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television Tour.” Cole has been nominated for two Emmy Awards and a Writers Guild Award for his work with the writers of “The Tonight Show” and the TBS show “Conan.” He has been named one of the “Top 10 Comedians to Watch” by Variety magazine. As an actor, Cole has appeared in MTV’s “Short Circuitz” and “Wild N’ Out with Nick Cannon” as well as in the movies “Barbershop” and Barbershop 2.”
