Fiction Writer to Speak

Born in Austin and raised on a Texas ranch, Geyer is an associate professor of English at the University of South Carolina-Aiken and the fiction editor for ASU’s literary journal, Concho River Review. He holds a doctorate in American literature and creative writing from Texas Tech University, a Master’s of Fine Arts in creative writing from the University of South Carolina-Columbia and bachelor degrees in English and sociology from the University of Texas at Austin.
His books include the co-authored “Texas Five X 5: Twenty-five Stories by Five Texas Writers, the novel “Dixie Fish,” the story cycle “Siren Songs from the Heart of Austin” and the novel “Meeting the Dead.” Geyer’s story cycle, “Whispers in Dust and Bone,” won both the silver medal for short fiction in the Foreword Magazine Book of the Year Awards and the Spur Award from the Western Writers of America. He has also been named a Breakthrough Rising Star by the University of South Carolina system.
