#CrossroadsLive hosts Singer/Songwriter Katy McKenzie to the stage!

Katy Mckenzie is talented as she is tall, standing a statuesque 5’10”. She’s a gifted singer-songwriter with a penchant for writing clever and catchy lyrics. She has a fresh, sweet yet sultry, country-pop sound with a twist of folk. She’s young at heart with an old soul. Her musical influences include Kasey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift as well as The Eagles, Bob Dylan and James Taylor.

She is working on recording her first EP. If you’re fortunate enough to catch a live performance, you will find yourself singing along in anthem to her signature original “Freedom” or sitting back enjoying her pleasantly sweet and smooth vocals, unforgettable melodies and lyrics; and singing them long after you have gone home.

Katy has performed at the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts for the official 2015 San Antonio Fiesta Poster Unveiling.  She was chosen to perform at the 2015 San Antonio Mayoral Inauguration Ceremonies and has played at the legendary local concert venue The White Rabbit. Katy was the feature performer at the SA Fiesta event Deco District Arts and Music Festival Medal Unveiling.  It was there that Katy was awarded a new Gibson Epiphone guitar presented to her by Robert Trevino, NYA Board President and Director, Latin Entertainment Relations at Gibson Guitars.

In addition to local venues, Katy has performed at major festivals such as the Frenchie Burke Music Festival in Lytle, Texas and St. Louis Day Festival in Castroville, Texas where thousands flock to each year.  She took to the Miller Lite stage at the 2015 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, The 5th Annual Barbacoa and Big Red Festival, the 2015 San Antonio Fiesta Oyster Bake and Deco District Arts and Music Festival.

A member of the prominent San Antonio organization, Network for Young Artists, Katy has led the vocal group at several shows for non-profit organization events such as The Wounded Warriors Project and The Unsung Heroes Award/Public Allies Gala at The Pearl Brewery.

She has appeared on San Antonio lifestyle and entertainment television shows: KABB Fox 29’s Daytime @ Nine with Kimberly Crawford; KENS 5’s Great Day SA with Bridget Smith;  KSAT 12’s SA Live with hosts Jeff Roper and Fiona Gorostiza and WOAI Focus on South Texas with Erin Nichols.

Katy has trained with a few local notable musicians including Grammy award winner Michael Morales.  There’s no doubt many more opportunities and success lie ahead for this artist. Big dreams, aspirations, passion and a heart and soul for music drive Katy to continue to work on her craft, write songs and perform anywhere she can.
