Thursday, March 10, 2016 12 - 2 p.m. Free
The Angelo State University Symphony Orchestra will present a matinee performance of Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf” to San Angelo fourth-graders on March 10 in the ASU Auditorium at the Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Avenue N..

Part of an educational outreach series, the event is free and open to the public. The Symphony Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Maurice Kelley of ASU’s music faculty.

The event will begin at 12:30 with a discussion by Dr. Fred Wilson of ASU’s physics faculty on “Physics of Sound,” a fun and interactive presentation. During the symphony performance, the story of “Peter and the Wolf” will be narrated by Dr. Constance Kelley, ASU’s interim director of bands.

Following the concert, symphony members and music majors will host an “instrument petting zoo.” Visitors, under the guidance of ASU musicians, will have the opportunity to hold and play instruments of the orchestra.
