Concert: The Mesquite Trio
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the EFA Building’s Eldon Black Recital Hall and is open free to the public. Drs. Tim Bonenfant, Constance Kelley and Jeff Womack, all ASU associate professors of music, comprise The Mesquite Trio.
The evening’s musical program will begin with a solo performance by Bonenfant on clarinet and bass clarinet. He will present Virko Baley’s Persona II: “Boris Lyatoshynsky” and Persona IV: “Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra,” as well as Eric Whitacre’s “Melody for Unaccompanied B-Flat Clarinet.”
Following a brief intermission, Kelley and Womack will join Bonenfant on stage to perform “Paris 1987” by Stella Sung and Bonenfant’s arrangement of “Petite Suite” by Claude Debussy.
The mission of The Mesquite Trio is to promote chamber music and support new compositions. This year’s ASU concert is a preview of both the trio’s and Bonenfant’s solo performances at the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors (NACWPI) Conference on Oct. 29 in Santa Fe, N.M.
