University Theatre at Angelo State University will present the new comic love story “Channeler 2: The Upside Down Moon” for its second 2017 summer dinner theatre production on Friday, Aug. 4, in the ASU Modular Theatre.

Performances will be at 8 p.m. Aug. 4-5, with dinner served at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $20 for the general public, $15 for non-ASU students and Arts at ASU subscribers, and $12.50 for ASU students. The ASU Modular Theatre is located in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

Written by Dr. Trey Smith of the ASU mathematics faculty, “Channeler 2” is a sequel to Smith’s popular “The Channeler,” which also debuted on the ASU stage. However, the sequel is also a stand-alone story for audiences that have not seen the original.

In “Channeler 2,” Landon comes from a family of channelers – people who speak for the deceased. This ability, however, gets in the way of every relationship he has ever attempted. Sky is a quirky friend of the family who takes an interest in Landon, but has no idea of the family’s strange talent. Along the way, Sky is introduced to philosopher Immanuel Kant, John Wayne, Tupac Shakur and many others. She is also plunged into a crisis involving a missing sock, an argument about why chess is not the ultimate test of human intelligence, and the challenge of being attracted to someone who is convinced that being in love is equivalent to the moon turning upside down.
