Concert: San Angelo Community Band
Titled “Stardust,” the concert will feature an eclectic repertoire of marches, light popular tunes and standard wind band pieces. Highlights will include jazz standards “I’m Getting Sentimental Over You,” “Here’s That Rainy Day,” “Stompin’ at the Savoy” and “In the Mood” arranged by Bob Lowden; “Riders for the Flag” by John Philip Sousa; “Light Cavalry Overture” by Franz Von Suppe; a medley of songs from “Porgy & Bess” by George and Ira Gershwin; and “Stardust” by Hoagy Carmichael.
The San Angelo Community Band is an all-volunteer, nonprofit ensemble that offers a creative outlet for amateur musicians. Its members annually perform a variety of summer concerts, as well as at various special events, and represent a cross-section of the local community, including ASU students, faculty and staff.
Kelley is an associate professor of music at ASU and also directs the ASU Flute Choir.
