Monday, August 21, 2017 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Free

Angelo State University is co-sponsoring a pair of public gatherings to view the solar eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21, in the parking lot of ASU’s Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium and on the roof of the Stephens Central Library in downtown San Angelo.

The gatherings will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at each location and are open free to the public. Local astronomers will be at both sites with filtered telescopes and special viewing glasses so participants can safely view the solar eclipse. San Angelo is expected to experience a partial eclipse with about 66 percent of the sun covered by the moon when the eclipse peaks at about 1 p.m.

Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium is located on the corner of Jackson Street and University Avenue. The Stephens Central Library is at 33 W. Beauregard Ave. downtown.

The San Angelo Astronomy Association and Stephens Central Library are co-sponsors for the eclipse gatherings.
