SA Community Band: Memorial Day Concert

The San Angelo Community Band, under the direction of Dr. Constance Kelley of the ASU music faculty, will present a special Memorial Day Concert on Monday, May 28, at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church, 4522 College Hills Blvd.
Titled “A Memorial Salute,” the concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the church’s Life Center and is open free to the public. The San Angelo Community Band comprises more than 50 local musicians, including ASU students and faculty and community members.
The Memorial Day Concert repertoire of patriotic music will include:
- “Star-Spangled Banner” by Francis Scott Key
- “American Overture for Band” by Joseph Wilcox Jenkins
- “Songs They Took to War” by Dean Jones
- “The Liberty Bell” by John Philip Sousa
- “Star-Spangled Salute” by George M. Cohan
- “Arlington (Where Giants Lie Sleeping)” by Paul Murtha
- “Armed Forces Salute” arranged by Bob Lowden
- “God Bless America” by Irving Berlin, featuring soloist Angela Ochoa
