Laura W. Bush Institute: Concho Valley Kick-off - Access to Breast Care for West Texas
5:30pm CDT September 27, 2012
LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center
Geographic distance to mammography services and few mammography facilities discourage breast health care in the Concho Valley.
Angelo State University along with its campus affiliate of the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health received a $1.12 million grant from the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas. This initiative will strive to eliminate these common obstacles through the establishment of Access to Breast Care of West Texas – Concho Valley.
ABC4WT-CV and its partners will provide breast care awareness to the community at large and breast cancer screening services to women who otherwise would not be able to afford or have access to a mammogram.
Please join us as we introduce the program to the community and learn more about how it will impact the Concho Valley area. There will be food and refreshments, door prizes, and staff meet and greet.
Unique Program Characteristics:
- ABC4WT-CV partners with all four hospital facilities in the Concho Valley that can provide mammography services and includes providing transportation if needed.
- The initiative is targeting the “donut population” that normally does not meet the requirements for other programs.
