The Quintet has commissioned two jazz oriented arrangements - an arrangement of Louis Armstrong favorites together with a new commission: "Four Times Five" by young American composer Joshua Hobbs. Allan Dean has written many of the arrangements including some songs and music of the Renaissance plus tangos by the Argentinian Astor Piazzolla. A popular favorite is "Animal Ditties" by Anthony Plog\, in which the brass music is used to accompany the clever Ogden Nash poems about animals.\n\n The Saint Louis Brass has been performing since 1964 throughout the country and continues to thrive as a top-notch ensemble. Members of the group include trumpet players Allan Dean\, from Yale University and Ray Sasaki from UT Austin\, Jeff Nelsen played horn with Canadian Brass for eight years before becoming a professor at Indiana University. Melvyn Jennings\, formerly with the Saint Louis Symphony\, plays trombone and the tubist is Indiana University's Daniel Perantoni.
