 Tara has been a hairstylist most of her adult life. She has worked in a number of different salons in San Angelo. Tara also is a professional makeup artist. She had an opportunity to open her own salon and thought it was the right time for her to start her own small business.

Tara had some knowledge as she learned from other salon owners how to run their business but wanted more information. She met with Advisor Paul Howard of the Angelo State University ∙ Small Business Development Center. Paul suggested she develop a business plan to determine feasibility and to give her direction. Tara did just that and with financing help from a friend she was able to open The Beauty Parlor. “The SBDC gave me the tools to put together a business plan and resources to help me grow and maintain my business,” stated Tara.

San Angelo has a new hair salon that also provides professional makeup application. The business created one job and also assisted three independent hairstylists to find a space to ply their trades.
