Recreation Aid (Arts and Crafts - Auto Hobby Shop)
Assigns work space/stalls to individuals on a first-come, first-serve basis. Suggests and issues the correct tool to be utilized according to automotive job to be done. Provides pick-up service for parts. Controls tool rental on a chit basis. Performs a daily inventory/inspection of all tools in the crib to determine if tools need to be replaced, are missing, need cleaning, or need minor repairs. Advises supervisor of the need for tool replacements or repairs beyond the capabilities of shop personnel. Maintains shop area and tool crib in clean and orderly condition. Responsible for all hazardous waste management throughout the facility following proper procedures. Ensures all stalls used by hobbyists are cleaned before they check out. Enforces the “No Smoking” rule in the shop, ensuring only areas designated for smoking are utilized. Closes shop following established fire/security procedures, ensures lights are turned off, doors are locked, and all gates are secured before leaving the premises.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, and arm movement. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be able to work days, nights, weekends and holidays. Practical knowledge of various hand tools and test equipment used in the repair of vehicles is desirable; however, no experience is required. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier-1 background investigation.
