Booming in the Industrial South

February 06, 2012

When the time came to embark on the adventure of starting his own business, Terry got tips and advice from the SBDC to avoid pitfalls along the way.

Southern Industrial Engines

Nature of Business: Industrial Engine Repair Shop
City: San Angelo, TX
SBDC Advisor: Cindy Hartin

Terry’s husband, Dusty, has spent the last 22 years mastering his trade of diesel mechanics. Recently, they decided it was time that Terry and Dusty form a business to allow Dusty to use his experience. That’s when they formed Southern Industrial Engines. Terry and Dusty worked diligently to get their business started.

Terry and Dusty have been building clientele and creating relationships with their customers. Dusty and his team of mechanics travel the State of Texas and sometimes to other states to repair engines in the oil and gas fields. Dusty and his team work long hours to meet the needs of their customers. Terry and Dusty have enjoyed having their own business and take pride in the work they do for their customers.

“Cindy walked us through the process of starting our business, let us know about training available to us through the SBDC, and answered all of our questions along the way and gave us valuable advice to avoid pit falls and surprises.” -Terry Southern Thompson
