‘Voice’ Contestant Coming to ASU Club Cafe

March 21, 2012

Tje Austin, a vocalist and songwriter from Austin who competed on NBC’s “The Voice,” will perform for Angelo State University’s Club Café coffeehouse entertainment series on Wednesday, March 28, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

Austin, whose first name is pronounced “Tye,” will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center.  ASU student tickets will be $2, and general public tickets will be $5 at the door.  The first 100 audience members to arrive will receive a free Club Café coffee mug.  Coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate, cookies, brownies and other refreshments will be served.

After advancing through blind auditions for “The Voice,” Austin was selected by judges Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine for their teams.  He chose Green’s team, and performed several more times before being eliminated from the show later in the competition.

Currently working on his third album, “Dreamin’ Big,” Austin previously released “Love Me Knots” in 2008 and “Xperience” in 2010.  His song “Today Tomorrow” was featured in the 2008 movie “Noah’s Arc: Jumping the Broom.”

A featured artist on Texas Tourism’s 11-city national “Texas on Tour” program in 2011, Austin has also opened for Grammy Award nominees Anthony David, Dwele and Trey Songz.  His MySpace page has had more than 3 million hits.

Samples of Austin’s music are available on his MySpace page at www.myspace.com/42460247, on his website at www.tjeaustin.com/, and on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=krGUxgGBZD4.
