ASU Hosting Farm Bill Session & Legislative Summit

Angelo State University will be the site for two events involving discussion of the United States’ 2018 Farm Bill.

U.S. House Agriculture Committee Chairman Michael Conaway (TX-11) and Ranking Member Collin Peterson (MN-7) will hold a committee listening session, “The Next Farm Bill, Conversations in the Field.” The session will be held Monday, July 31, at Angelo State University in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center, Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive. Details, including the time of the session, will be released by the U.S. House Agriculture Committee

The intent of these sessions is to gather input from farmers, ranchers and stakeholders across the country. No registration is required.

Angelo State University will also host the annual West Texas Legislative Summit, organized by the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce and featuring special guest Conaway and hosts State Sen. Charles Perry and State Rep. Drew Darby. This discussion will also focus on the 2018 Farm Bill.

As part of the summit, a reception and dinner are scheduled from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, July 31, at the Historic Fort Concho Stables. The cost is $70 through July 17, and $85 from July 18 through the event date.

The Legislative Summit will run from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 1, in Angelo State University’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center. Admission is $130 through July 17, and $150 from July 18 through the event date. Register to attend the dinner or the summit at sanangelo.org/chamber/events/wtls.
