6 Faculty Attend Tufte Seminar

On Monday, April 23, 2012, Department faculty Laura Behrens, Mark Hama, Joe Erickson, Jeff Schonberg, Ron Scott, and Laurence Musgrove attended the one-day course “Presenting Data and Information” by Edward Tufte in Austin to learn more on incorporating visual information into core curriculum English course work in response to forthcoming changes in the new Texas core curriculum.  For more on Edward Tufte’s work, see his website.

    On Tuesday evening, our local chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, inducted fifteen new members.
  • On November 2nd, Dr. Jules Gates, associate professor of English, presented her creative nonfiction poem “From His Coy Mistress” on a panel with two other creative nonfiction writers at the 2015 South Central Modern Language Conference (SCMLA) in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • Dr. Chris Ellery, a professor of English in Angelo State University’s Department of English and Modern Languages, has won first prize in the eighth biennial X.J. Kennedy Award for Creative Nonfiction administered by Rosebud Magazine.
