Top ASU Graduate Students Honored at Annual Banquet

Angelo State University honored its outstanding graduate students at the annual College of Graduate Studies Awards Banquet on Friday, April 29, in the Houston Harte University Center.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement by graduate dean Dr. Brian May of the distinguished graduate student from each of ASU’s five academic colleges. Winners each received a recognition plaque.

The honorees by major and college were Karen Mallott of San Angelo, business administration, College of Business; Alyse Nicole Herndon of Christoval, coaching, sport, recreation and fitness administration, College of Education; Erin Marks Whitford of Midland, English, College of Liberal and Fine Arts; Mimi H. Baugh of San Angelo, integrated nurse educator, College of Nursing and Allied Health; and Jason L. Strickland of Seminole, biology, College of Sciences.

The other nominees for the top awards were also recognized and awarded certificates. They were Darla Alexander and Jennifer L Yarbrough of San Angelo, Lance A. Smith of Snyder, Richard A. Caraway of Merkel, Tami K. Spearman of Georgetown, Monica C. Ulbricht of Spring Branch, Kaitlyn Brosh of Munday, Jennifer Lovett of Odessa, Travis Taylor of Greenville, Leo M. Batot of Sabinal and Jaclyn E. Brindus of Canton, Ohio.

Additionally, all ASU graduate students who have maintained a 4.0 GPA after completing at least half of their graduate programs were recognized, along with those who have written or presented papers or won other awards.
