Angelo State Provost to Return to Teaching

June 24, 2011

Dr. Anthony P. Blose, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Angelo State University since July 2010, has announced his resignation to return to teaching physics, his academic discipline.

Citing personal reasons for the resignation, Blose will step down June 30 as provost and vice president and will return to his position as a tenured professor of physics.

ASU President Joseph C. Rallo said he will accept nominations for an interim provost. The direction the search for a permanent provost will take will be determined later in the summer after the impact of budget cuts for the next biennium is fully assessed.

The provost and vice president for academic affairs serves as the university’s chief academic officer and second in charge of the university after the president.

Blose came to ASU last year from Lake Superior State University in Sault Sainte Marie, Mich., where he had worked as provost and vice president for academic affairs since 2007.
