Bachelors degree required. Graduate student in either a STEM field and/or Higher Education/Education. Ability to operate a personal computer is a requirement. Must be able to communicate with a diverse population and be able to make presentation to both small and large groups. You may be subject to a criminal background check. The STEM intern is responsible for assisting in the coordination and development of face-to-face as well as distance academic advising and career exploration services of STEM majors. Maintain sufficient knowledge of current District procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook at www.howardcollege.edu. If assistance is needed, contact Human Resources. Maintain satisfactory attendance. Assist with the coordination and delivery of programs that result in frequent contacts with identified college bound STEM students/parents. Assist with the development and implementation of STEM academic advising services to students in the university transfer pipeline. Assist with the development and implementation of New Student Orientation in both face to face and online delivery with a focus on STEM majors. Provides advising services relating to the pre-registration, registration, and late registration processes for STEM majors. Assist with the evaluation of the effectiveness, planning and budgeting of the academic advising and assessment functions. Assist the ASU-Howard College STEM Project Manager with the implementation of the grant for the Howard College campuses as needed. Work with area high school officials, dual credit students and parents. Perform other duties as assigned.
