ASU to Host Entrepreneurship Event
September 14, 2012
Events will begin at noon in the University Center’s C.J. Davidson Conference Center, and will follow a come-and-go format so that students can attend at times that fit their schedules. Highlights will include an eLounge for networking, obtaining information and snacking, as well as four breakout sessions throughout the afternoon. Keynote speaker Max Durovic, founder and chief executive officer of AArrow Advertising, will give a presentation at 6 p.m.
Durovic founded AArrow Advertising in 2001 after completing his first year at Georgetown University. His inspiration came from a summer job in 1999 when he and his friends infused their extreme sports background with street performance to catch the attention of spectators. Using 6-foot signs, the team began to develop tricks and compete by spinning the signs and flipping them in the air. The business now has more than 25 franchise locations.
Each E-Day breakout session will last an hour and 15 minutes and will follow this schedule:
- 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. – Dorm Room CEO: How to Start a Small Business
- 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. – Planning for Success: Writing a Business Plan and Other Strategic Planning Tips
- 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. – Idea Gold: How to Profit From Patents, Inventions and Technology
- 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. – How to Fund Your Dream: Basics of Finding Funding, Including Kickstarter and Crowdfunding
E-Day activities are sponsored by the ASU Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and University Center Program Council (UCPC) and are intended for business majors as well as any students thinking about owning their own business. Students can register online at www.angelo.edu/eday or at the door.
