September 28, 2012
Jamie Akin, executive director of development and alumni relations, announced the appointment of Adams, who began work in ASU development in 2008 as a development support assistant and was later promoted to her current position. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Angelo State in 2004.
Akin said, “Kimberly’s dedication to Angelo State University and her experience in the Development Office over the last four years make her the ideal person to move forward with the ASU Alumni Association.”
Adams said her goals in her new role will be to promote alumni communication, to increase community outreach and activities for alumni and to assist ASU in achieving its goals and academic mission.
In addition to her ASU administrative experience, Adams has extensive sales experience, having worked four years as a jewelry consultant for Zales Corp. and four years before that as a store manager for Hastings Entertainment.
In addition to her B.B.A., Adams is scheduled to complete her Master of Education in student development and leadership from ASU this December. She also serves on the executive board of the ASU Staff Senate as recording secretary.
In her new position, Adams will report to the university’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations and will work with the alumni association’s board of directors. The ASU Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3) organization established to support the university and its educational efforts. The association owns and operates the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center and sponsors numerous campus events and activities in support of ASU.
