ASU Wind Ensemble Presents Fall Concert

Angelo State University’s Wind Ensemble will be joined by several guest professionals and performing faculty for its fall concert on Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the University Auditorium.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is open free to the public.  The University Auditorium is located in the Sol Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Avenue N.

Dr. Anthony Pursell, director of bands at Tarleton State University, and Harris Brinson, ASU director of bands emeritus, will also participate in the concert.  Featured ASU faculty artists will include Dr. John Irish playing trumpet, Janeene Williams providing vocals and Dr. Mark Hama as narrator.

Featured music for the program will include “Gandalf” from Johan de Meij’s “The Lord of the Rings” symphony, a transcription of “Tritsch-Tratsch Polka” by Johann Strauss Jr. and “Finale” from Dmitri Shostakovich’s “Fifth Symphony.”

ASU’s Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. Daniel McCloud, is the premier group in the ASU music program consisting of its best instrumentalists.  Members represent both the Art and Music Department and other areas of study within the university.
