ASU to Host Native American Celebration

November 26, 2012

In recognition of November as Native American Heritage Month, Angelo State University’s Multicultural Center will host a Native American Celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 28, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

The celebration will run from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday in the central spine of the University Center and is open free to the public.

Information posters, artifacts and pictographs will be on display to pay tribute to the rich ancestry and traditions of the Native American tribes that originally inhabited Texas, including the Apache, Bidai, Caddo, Carrizo, Coahuilteco, Comanche, Karankawa, Kiowa, Tonkawa and Wichita tribes.  Craft stations will also be set up where attendees can make their own wampum key chains, cornhusk dolls, Native American jewelry, dream catchers and other items.  The atmosphere will also be enhanced by Native American music.
