Pepper Appointed ASU Development Officer

Kevin Pepper, a 1998 graduate of Angelo State University and a former Ram athlete, has been named a development officer in the university’s Office of Development and Alumni relations, effective Jan.2.

Jamie Akin, executive director of development and alumni relations, announced the appointment for the position which will report to the development office but work closely with athletics to raise support for the Rams and Rambelles.

“We are excited to welcome Kevin to our development team,” Akin said.  “Not only is he an ASU alum and past member of the Ram Football team, but he also brings the passion and experience needed to focus on the individual, corporate and planned giving needed to move our athletic program forward.”

ASU Athletic Director Sean Johnson said, “We are thrilled that Kevin Pepper will be joining ASU and helping our student-athletes achieve their goals of graduation and winning championships.”

Pepper, a Wall resident, has worked for West Central Wireless since 2009, first as outside account manager and for the past 18 months as account manager supervisor.  With West Central Wireless he managed the biggest and most profitable location in the company, developed new sales territories and exceeded company goals as a sales manager.

From 2001-09, he worked at Decoty Coffee Co., managing six sales routes that represented 25 percent of the company’s gross sales while supervising and motivating a team of seven salesmen.  With Decoty Coffee, Pepper was responsible for all donations to charitable organizations and special events.

Akin said his accomplishments in sales and community relations in his previous positions will be an asset in his fundraising responsibilities at Angelo State.

Before moving into sales, he was a grain elevator manager for two years at Attebury Grain Inc. in Lockney after beginning his career at Justin Seed Company in Justin.

Pepper earned his B.A. in business administration in 1998, graduating with a minor in animal science.
