Sometimes when a business is looking for assistance it just needs to be pointed in the right direction. When Daniela Curl moved to San Angelo she had already started a successful photography business but didn’t know where to begin to establish herself in her new city. James Leavelle of the SBDC was there to help answer her questions and lead her in the right direction…

Daniela Curl has been fascinated with photography since getting her first camera as a child.  She took that fascination and pursued it through education and training and joining the Professional Photographers Association.

While Daniela is capable of many types of photography, she specializes in low-light photography targeting families and high school seniors.  Her specialty takes her clients outdoors where she is able to harness the beauty of nature in its natural light and frame it around her clients.

Daniela decided that it was time to take her fascination-turned-passion and training to the next level by starting her own business.  As a military spouse, she learned through the “military spouse network” that assistance was available from the Angelo State University – Small Business Development Center.  Daniela contacted the SBDC and was assigned to James Leavelle.

James worked with Daniela in guiding her to through the steps of setting up her business and through various ways to market her business online using resources such as Facebook and Twitter.  Of her experience with the SBDC, Daniela has this to say, “the SBDC helped me start my business as well as helped me market my business so that I could build my client base.”
