ASU Welcomes New Faculty for Fall 2010

Along with a new freshman class of students, Angelo State University will also welcome 19 new tenured and tenure-track faculty in 10 departments for the start of fall semester classes on Aug. 23.

Faculty who have joined ASU since last fall in the College of Business, by title and department, are Dr. Detelin Elenkov, professor and Norris Family Chair in International Business, Management and Marketing; and Dr. Kaushik Ghosh, assistant professor, Management and Marketing.

New faculty in the College of Education are Dr. Deborah A. Banker, assistant professor, Teacher Education; Dr. Sandra J. Maxedon, assistant professor, Teacher Education; Dr. Adam G. Parker, assistant professor, Kinesiology; and Dr. Marva J. Solomon, assistant professor, Teacher Education.

College of Liberal and Fine Arts new faculty are Dr. Bruce E. Bechtol Jr., associate professor, Political Science and Criminal Justice (PSCJ); Dr. Christopher C. Collins, assistant professor, Communication, Mass Media and Theater (CMMT); Dr. Robert S. Ehlers Jr., professor and director of the Center for Security Studies, PSCJ; Dr. Robert Nalbandov, assistant professor, PSCJ; Dr. James R. Phelps, assistant professor, PSCJ; Dr. Daniel J. Simmons, assistant professor, CMMT; Dr. Cheryl K. Stenmark, assistant professor, Psychology, Sociology and Social Work; and Dr. Hilda Velasquez, assistant professor, Modern Languages.

New faculty in the College of Nursing and Allied Health are Dr. Heather J. Braden, assistant professor, Physical Therapy; Dr. Jacqueline G. Brown, assistant professor, Nursing; and Dr. Yi-Po Chiu, assistant professor, Physical Therapy.

In the College of Sciences, new faculty are Dr. Hardin R. Dunham, assistant professor, Physics; and Dr. James W. Ward, assistant professor, Physics.
