ASU to Host High School ROTC Drill Meet

Angelo State University’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 847 will host its annual Junior ROTC (JROTC) Drill Meet for area high schools on Saturday, March 23, on the ASU campus.

Cadets from JROTC units at about a dozen high schools across Texas will compete in various events from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with most events in the parking lot of the ASU Rassman Building, 2222 Dena Drive.  The drill meet is open free to the public and includes an awards ceremony.

Judges for the contests will be active duty members of the U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force and Army.  Events at the Drill Meet will include:

  • Unarmed inspection
  • Unarmed regulation
  • Unarmed exhibition
  • Armed inspection 
  • Armed regulation
  • Armed exhibition
  • Color guard competition
  • Individual drill
  • Tandem drill
  • Knockout drill
  • Warrior challenge
  • Saber team drill
