ASU to Host 16th Annual FAME Program

March 15, 2013

Angelo State University’s Friends of Art and Music Education (FAME) will host its 16th annual fundraising event on Tuesday, March 19, in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

The Collage Reception will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature student art exhibits and musical entertainment throughout the EFA Building, including the Modular Theatre, Eldon Black Recital Hall, the upper and lower spine and the upstairs art area.  Admission will be $3 for students and $5 for the general public.

Donations to FAME will also be accepted with all proceeds going into the organization’s scholarship fund to benefit ASU fine arts students.  Theatre students are now also included since that program was moved to the ASU Department of Visual and Performing Arts last fall.

In addition to viewing art exhibits, attendees will be able to watch student demonstrations and presentations about printmaking, art history, clay and pottery, art education, digital art, and painting and watercolors.  Student musicians will perform throughout the evening, including the ASU Jazz Combo, String Chamber Ensemble, Woodwind Quintet and Flute Choir/Percussion Ensemble.  The Opera Music Theater group will present a scene from Gaetano Donizetti’s “The Elixir of Love,” and theatre students will perform scenes from a variety of plays and musicals.

The FAME Collage Reception is the organization’s primary fundraising effort of the year.  Since its inception in 1998, FAME has awarded more than 285 scholarships to ASU students totaling more than $165,000.
