ASU Hosting Faculty Recital, Flute Day

March 18, 2013

Dr. Constance Kelley, Angelo State University assistant professor of music, will perform a flute recital on Friday, March 22, as a prelude to ASU Flute Day on Saturday, March 23, with all activities taking place in the Carr Education-Fine Arts (EFA) Building, 2602 Dena Drive.

The March 22 recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the EFA Building’s Eldon Black Recital Hall and is open free to the public.  The program will include selections from J.S. Bach, Claude Debussy, Jacques Ibert, Sergei Prokofieff and Theobald Boehm.  Kelley will be accompanied by fellow ASU music faculty Dr. Martha Saywell on piano and Dr. Maurice Kelley on bass.

The March 23 Flute Day events will also be held in the Eldon Black Recital Hall and are designed to give high school flutists a chance to learn more about playing the instrument.  Activities will include a flute choir reading session, masterclasses with Kelley and interaction with ASU students.  All the activities are open free to the public.  Pre-registration is encouraged, although walk-ins are welcome.
