ASU Brass Choir to Perform at SAMFA

The 2 p.m. concert is open free to the public. The Brass Choir will open the program with two Elgar Howarth processional fanfares, “I. Moderato” and “II. Maestoso,” followed by the renaissance madrigals “O Mille Volte” by Luca Marenzio, “Beti Estis” by Peter Philips, and “Coppia Real” by Orazio Vecchi.
The concert’s special guests will be members of the San Angelo High School Trumpet Ensemble. They will perform “Psalm 100: Make a Joyful Noise” by Brendan Collins, “Within Sacred Walls” by Erik Morales, and “Hallelujah Chorus” by G.F. Handel.
The Brass Choir will close the program with “Symphony for Brass, Op. 5” by Victor Ewald, as well as “I. Moderato con Motto,” “II. Adagio, Allegro Vivace” and “III. Allegro Moderato.”
ASU’s Brass Choir is directed by Dr. Edward Surface, interim chair of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. The high school ensemble, composed of local public school musicians, is directed by Dr. John Irish, ASU professor of music.
