ASU Sororities Hosting ‘Love Those Locks’

April 02, 2013

Two Angelo State University sororities will team up with Texas College of Cosmetology hairstylists for a “Love Those Locks” event on Monday, April 8, at the Texas College of Cosmetology, 2504 Knickerbocker Road.

Sororities Delta Zeta and Sigma Kappa are sponsoring the event that will run from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. and is designed to benefit people suffering from medical conditions that cause hair loss.  The hairstylists will be available to take individual donations of at least 10 inches of hair for the Locks of Love nonprofit organization.

Locks of Love provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children younger than 21 in the U.S. and Canada who have experienced long-term hair loss due to treatment of medical conditions.  The donated hair helps restore the children’s self-esteem and confidence, and enables them to more comfortably venture out in public.

For donation purposes, hair cannot be bleached, synthetic or in dreadlocks, and should be clean, dry and fixed in ponytails or braided.  Hair that is colored or permed is acceptable.
