Provost Search to Continue in 2014

April 15, 2013

Angelo State University President Brian J. May has announced that the search for a new university provost and vice president for academic affairs will resume in 2014.

May said that Dr. Nancy Allen, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs since November, will continue in that position until a permanent provost is hired.  She will not be a candidate for the permanent position.

The provost position came open Nov. 7 when May, who had served in the post since 2011, was named president.  The initial search brought three finalists to campus for interviews in March, but the university did not reach a hiring agreement with any of the three.  The provost and vice president for academic affairs is the chief academic officer for ASU and second in command to the president.

Additionally, May said a new search committee will be appointed to initiate a provost search in 2014.
