Qualifications/Duties

Children’s Museum Program Supervisors are integral in providing high-quality, hands-on programming to the Museum’s youngest visitors and their grown-ups. Qualified applicant will assist in the daily operations of the Museum by leading group activities, assisting in guidance for Volunteers, and providing essential support for collaborating artists and special guests. Responsibilities include: Interact directly with Museum visitors, Ensure that the Durham Children’s Museum is presentable and consistently ready for visitor use, including some light cleaning and maintenance, Assist in volunteer opportunities, Assist in the integration of collaborating artists and special guests in educational experience, Lead tours and organized activities, which may include the development and/or the evaluation of activities and assisting in research into how children learn in a museum environment. Minimum qualifications: Strong interest and/or background in art, science, history and education, High School student, undergraduate student, Graduate student or career changer, Highly motivated, dependable, and flexible, Demonstrated ability to work with people of all ages, experience working with young children preferred, Students in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Developmental Psychology are strongly encouraged to apply.
