Just for Men

June 27, 2013

“A quest to provide merchandise not available in the San Angelo area” is the best description of the expansion of The Stagg. The Stagg is an inspiration of local entrepreneur, Mary Lewis. “I wanted to expand my store to include items for men. I wanted them to find just exactly what they were looking for and women would be able to select gifts for the men in their lives,” Mary said. Mary contacted the Small Business Development Center at Angelo State University and worked with Advisor Peggy Rosser.

“When I was thinking about expanding into selling men’s gifts in San Angelo, I contacted Peggy. We worked through a business plan and cash flows. This information enabled me to see how the business might run,” Mary commented. She went on to say, “I’ve used the SBDC several times and am extremely grateful for Peggy’s advice and business knowledge.”

Exact timing of the entry into the market place was essential and Mary did just that! She was able to get her new business lines stocked by October, just in time for the Christmas rush! The Stagg business expansion created one full-time job, adding to the San Angelo economy.
