2013-14 Internship Opportunity!

West Texas Counseling & Guidance is seeking energetic Program Interns to facilitate a new and exciting after-school program, Youth Make A Difference (YMAD). Interns work under supervision of Instructors, Licensed Professional Counselors, and LPC Interns.

YMAD is a skills-training and mentoring program for youth, composed of three modules:

•Tools for Life/Recycle-a-Bicycle;

•Digital Film Lab; and,

•Art/Acting/Personal Development

The modules are designed to develop young people’s problem-solving skills, increase self-awareness, and self-esteem. Under the guidance of Master Mechanics, Tools for Life/Recycle-A-Bicycle teaches bicycle repair and safety education.  Digital Film Lab provides a creative outlet to express feelings while learning filmmaking, acting, and screenwriting.  Art/Acting & Personal Development provides young people with opportunities to practice Art, communication, assertiveness and goal setting.

Intern’s responsibilities may include: assisting in bike repair, art, acting, and film production, and supporting classes and groups, depending on their interests. Applicants should have enthusiasm to share their knowledge, a willingness to learn, and enjoy working with kids and young adults in a team environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain service hours with a reputable community service organization that has served the Concho Valley for over 30 years.
