Schmidt Joins Modern Languages

The Department of English and Modern Languages is happy to announce the appointment of Dr. April Schmidt as an instructor of Spanish in the Modern Languages program.

Dr. Schmidt received her Ph.D. in Spanish from University of Albany, State University of New York, and has taught previously at Keene State College in New Hampshire.

    On Tuesday evening, our local chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society, inducted fifteen new members.
  • On November 2nd, Dr. Jules Gates, associate professor of English, presented her creative nonfiction poem “From His Coy Mistress” on a panel with two other creative nonfiction writers at the 2015 South Central Modern Language Conference (SCMLA) in Nashville, Tennessee.

  • Dr. Chris Ellery, a professor of English in Angelo State University’s Department of English and Modern Languages, has won first prize in the eighth biennial X.J. Kennedy Award for Creative Nonfiction administered by Rosebud Magazine.
