ASU Orchestra Veterans Tribute

Angelo State University’s Department of Visual and Performing Arts will present “A Tribute to America,” featuring the ASU Orchestra, on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the ASU Auditorium.

The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is open free to the public.  The orchestra will perform musical selections by Aaron Copland, Jay Ungar and David Holsinger, and other activities will include recognition of the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address and a special tribute to past and present members of the U.S. military.

Special guests will include violin soloist Dorothy Douthit and narrator Dr. Paul Swets, dean of the ASU College of Arts and Sciences.  Dr. Constance Kelley of ASU’s music faculty will be master of ceremonies.  The ASU Auditorium is located in the Mayer Administration Building, 2601 W. Avenue N.

The ASU Orchestra is an ensemble for musicians who play the violin, viola, cello and bass, and is open to all members of the ASU community.  It is directed by Dr. Maurice Kelley, head of the ASU orchestra program.
