ASU Hosting Noche en Sinaloa

November 18, 2013

Angelo State University’s Multicultural Center will present Noche en Sinaloa (An Evening in Sinaloa) on Friday, Nov. 22, at the ASU Pavilion near the Plaza Verde residence hall, 1941 S. Van Buren St.

The event will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and is open free to the public.  Activities will include a salsa and dip contest, folkloric dancers, mariachi and Banda music, and cultural information inspired by the novel Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urreas.

Urreas’ novel is the centerpiece of this year’s The Common Read and The Big Read programs sponsored by ASU and the Tom Green County Library.  The purpose of Noche en Sinaloa is to promote literature and prompt more involvement in those programs by providing cultural information and an entertaining evening.

Also sponsoring Noche en Sinaloa are the ASU Freshman College, Center for Student Involvement and Office of Housing and Residential Programs, as well as the Conexion Hispana newspaper.
