ASU Club Café Presents Another Top Comedian

October 18, 2010

Nationally known comic Jo Koy will bring his standup routine to Angelo State University’s Club Café coffeehouse entertainment series Wednesday, Oct. 27, in the Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive.

His 7:30 p.m. performance in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center follows previous high-profile comedians Rob Schneider and Jamie Kennedy appearing at the Club Café.

ASU student tickets will be presold Wednesday-Friday, Oct. 20-22, for $2. Beginning Monday, Oct. 25, through noon Wednesday, Oct. 27, tickets will be presold for $5 to everyone. Remaining tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the door.

The audience will be treated to coffee, cappuccino, hot chocolate, cookies, brownies and other refreshments. Free coffee mugs will be given away to the first 100 people at the event.

Besides his standup comedy at clubs and colleges nationwide, Koy can be seen regularly on E! Entertainment Television’s “Chelsea Lately.” After starting in a Las Vegas coffeehouse, the Tacoma, Wash., native rode his high-energy performances to national prominence, including inclusion in Daily Variety’s list of “10 Comics to Watch.”

Koy’s breakout performance came during a 2005 appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Since then, he has appeared on Carlos Mencia’s “Punisher Tour” in 2006, “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “Last Call with Carson Daly,” BET’s “Comic View” and “Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza.” Koy has also appeared on various VH-1 specials, and his Comedy Central special “Don’t Make Him Angry” aired in 2009.
