ASU Brass Choir Sets Fall Concert

Angelo State University’s Brass Choir will perform classic and contemporary works in concert Thursday, Nov. 11, in the sanctuary of St. Luke United Methodist Church, 2708 W. Ave N.

The 7:30 p.m. concert is open free to the public and will feature the ASU Brass Choir under the direction of Dr. Edward Surface, associate professor of music. The concert precedes the annual ASU Brass Festival, which is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 13.

The Brass Choir will present works by Gustav Holst, Enrique Granados, Igor Stravinsky, Johann Sebastian Bach and others. Featured selections will include “Band of Brothers,” composed by Michael Kamen, with a new arrangement by Dr. Fred Wilson, a retired ASU physics professor.

Also on the program is an arrangement by music student Nicolas Wallace of Bach’s “Ein Feste Burg” and the American premiere of “Fanfare,” a new work by Australian composer Brendan Collins.
