ASU C&M Search Announced

May 28, 2014

Angelo State University President Brian J. May has named a seven-member search committee to make recommendations for a new director of communications and marketing to succeed Preston Lewis, who is retiring effective June 30 after 35 years in higher education.

The committee will be led by co-chairs Joe Muñoz, senior executive assistant to the president and assistant to the president for multicultural initiatives, and Dr. Alaric Williams, assistant professor of curriculum and instruction and vice president of the Faculty Senate.

Other members are Sharla Adam, director of admissions; Jamie Akin, executive director of development and alumni relations; Elaine Beach, director of customer support and multimedia services, Information Technology; Brandon Ireton, director of athletic communications; and Adelina Morales, executive assistant to the president.

Committee members will accept and review applications, then forward the names of finalists to May for consideration. The goal is to have the position filled in July.

The Office of Communications and Marketing is responsible for overseeing university media relations, producing publications, managing content and visuals for the website and publishing Angelo State University Magazine.

Lewis joined the ASU staff in 1999 after working 20 years in news and publications positions at both Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.  He was the founding editor of ASU Magazine and oversaw publication of 20 issues since 2008 as well as six issues of its predecessor alumni magazine. Before entering higher education marketing, he worked for Texas daily newspapers in Lubbock, Waco, Abilene and Orange.
