ASU Ring Ceremony Set for April 29

April 27, 2010

The spring Angelo State University Ring Ceremony will be held Thursday, April 29, prior to the May 15 commencement exercises at ASU.

The ASU Alumni Association will host the 7 p.m. ceremony in the Dale and Joy Chase Courtyard and Vincent Pavilion at the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center, 1620 University Ave. Sixty-three ring recipients will be honored.

ASU President Joseph C. Rallo will address the students, and Kyle Box, ASU Class of 1981 and an alumni board member, will serve as guest speaker.

The ASU Block and Bridal Club will present Dominic, the university’s Rambouillet ram mascot. After the ceremony, recipients can touch their rings to Dominic’s horns for strength, or they can rub them through his wool for luck. Students wear the ring with the school name facing them. When they receive their degrees, they will turn their rings around to symbolize that they are ready to face the world.

The ASU AFROTC detachment will provide the color guard for the ceremony and the ASU Jazz Band will provide the music.
