Keeping Your Business Humming

Stacy Whipple bought her first motorcycle in 2009. She met her husband three years later at a Harley Davidson dealership in Conway, Arkansas, where he was motorcycle technician. Over the next couple of years as their relationship evolved, their passion for motorcycles led them to begin thinking about opening their own motorcycle repair shop.
Stacy’s husband, James, is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a native of San Angelo. After researching a number of possible cities in which to open their shop, the couple decided on San Angelo because it was where James felt at home. As a Certified Motorcycle Specialist, James brings the technical expertise to the business.
As Stacy and James researched their startup idea, they procured funding for their venture but found the process a little intimidating and sought out the services of the Angelo State University Small Business Development Center where they met with James Leavelle. Leavelle worked with Stacy in establishing her Limited Liability Company and marketing efforts for her business. He also assisted her in working with the city of San Angelo to get her location approved for her business.
Stacy says, “I am a first time business owner and was absolutely novice in every way when I found the SBDC. I have been working with an advisor, who has taught me virtually everything I needed to get started.”
